QuickBooks is quite efficient software and works seamlessly, managing your business accounting operations. But the truth is, it's not free from errors, and users face numerous issues while working with QuickBooks Desktop. Fix QuickBooks unrecoverable error

Before troubleshooting the QuickBooks unrecoverable error, Intuit recommends that you create a backup of company file and update the QuickBooks Desktop to its latest version.


Change QuickBooks corrupt user

QuickBooks has a feature where different users with their login credentials can access the same company file. This solution is for those only who have enables this feature. You have to check, how many users who access the same company file with different login credentials are getting this error. If you happen to find a particular user-facing the unrecoverable error, it's possible that the login credentials of that user got corrupted.


Fix the corrupted user
  • Go to the company menu and select Users. Now click on Set up Users and Roles.
  • Now choose add user and then create username and password.
  • Click on next and to complete the procedure click on finish
  • Go to the company menu and log off.
  • Now login again with the new user credentials you have just created.
Open a QuickBooks Desktop sample company file

  • Press and hold the alt key and double click the QuickBooks Desktop icon.
  • Do not release the alt key until the no company open window is displayed.
  • Now select, open a sample file and choose one of the sample files.
If there is no error message while you open the sample file, then the problem lies with the original company file.


Copy and access the company file from a different location

Locate and open the folder containing the company file. In the company file folder, search the QBW file. Right-click it and select the copy option. Go to the desktop and create a new folder, give it a proper name. Open the folder and paste the company file you have copied. Double click the QuickBooks icon while holding the alt key, and keep pressing it until the no company window open is shown. Now browse and open the company file you have copied to the desktop.


Add another window user account with administrator privilege
  • In the control panel window, select user account and then go to manage another account.
  • Click on Create a new account option and enter the name for the account.
  • Select the account type as administrator and click on the create account option.
  • Now restart your computer and log-in with the new user account.
  • Open QuickBooks and access company file to check if the error is gone or not.

Use QuickBooks Tools Hub to troubleshoot the unrecoverable error

  • Go to the Intuit website, download the Tools hub and install it.
  • After installation, run it and select the Program Problems option.
  • You will find Quick Fix my Program option, click on it.
  • Let it run, it will do any repair operation needed for the program
  • Now open the Installation Issues option in the Tools Hub and select the QuickBooks Program Diagnostic Tool.
  • Open Clean Install Tool and run it too.
  • These diagnostic tools will check your QuickBooks Desktop for any damage or error and perform the repair.
