Fix Microsoft Office 365 Account Login or Sign In Problem

If you have tried the usual (double checking your password) and are still unable to connect or can't login into office 365, Microsoft may be deliberately locking down your account for security reasons.
We've seen this several times. This happens when your credentials are incorrect, you're not using two-factor authentication or any other modern authentication, yet Office 365 is rejecting login requests from BusyCal / BusyContacts as it believes you're connecting from an unknown location (in case you have recently been traveling) or an unknown / non-trusted network. The way to 'fix' this is to:

  • Open your internet browser and logon to www.outlook.com or office.com with these credentials first. If you log in successfully, then close the browser.
  • Launch the app and try to login again. You may have to remove the account and add it back in again from Preferences -> Accounts -> selecting your account, removing it and then adding it back in again.

Microsoft is aware of Office 365 issues, that is reason why the suite comes with its own personal assistant- Microsoft's Support and Recovery Assistant
It can fix multiple issues for the user, advise how to go about problems, and link to references when it's unable to solve a problem itself.

There are also some applications supported by the tool as mentioned below:
