  • Find the files with the .nd extension. It will be named like this:YourCompanyName.qbw.nd
  • Right-click it and select rename.
  • Add a word of your choice, let's say OLD at the end of the file name.
  • Remember you don't have to change the name of the file itself, you just have to add a word and that too in the extension, not to the file name.
  • Once done your file will look like this, YourCompanyName.qbw.nd.OLD
  • Now find the file name with the .TLG extension and repeat the process. After you are done the file name will look like this, YourCompanyName.qbw.tlg.OLD
  • Open the QuickBooks Desktop company file and see if the error is gone or not. If you still see the error, move to the next solution.

Update the necessary folder permissions

  • If they are not set to allowed status then move back to the security tab and select Everyone option.
  • If you can't find the options Everyone here, you need to add it.
  • Click on the add button, in the add box type Everyone, then hit OK.
  • Once the Everyone tab is added, select it and then choose the Full control option.
  • Clicks on apply to apply the changes and then click OK the finish the process.

Change the location of the company file

If there is an error in the path of the company file the QuickBooks software will be unable to access the file. If QB is unable to access the file, it may show the QuickBooks 6123 error.
Fortunately, the solution to this problem is easy; you just have to change the location of your company file.

  • Locate the folder that contains the company file and open it.
  • Find the file having the QBW extension and name the same as your company.
  • Copy the file, go to the desktop. Create a new folder here and paste the file inside it.
